about the artist
Picasso once said "Art washes away the dust of everyday life". That is my philosophy. As an artist, my goal is to create a piece of beauty that will inspire and leave an indelible and uplifting impression in the mind of all who view my art perhaps shaking them out of the hum-drum sequence of everyday life. That is why I use bright colors and recognizable imagery with a modernist twist. The scenes are familiar but yet almost dreamlike. That is if you believe we dream in color and not in black and white.
Amber Elizabeth Darling is a hard-working Minnesota artist. She has interned at the Tate Britain, London while attending school at the University of MN, Twin Cities. She has won various art competitions, such as the Director's Choice Award at the Duluth Art Institute. She has shown her work in galleries around the state, and has work in private and corporate collections across the nation, and has even sold to the celebrity rock star Kid Rock. In between creating her art, Amber works as a skilled framer for a Duluth gallery Art Options, where much of her work is on display.
